Maximum of 20 players per age group
The Field Hockey Summer Mini Camp is designed for both beginners looking to learn the basics of field hockey and experienced players looking to improve their skills and prepare for the upcoming fall season. Players will develop understanding of rules, participate in drills for skill development and tournament game play. Players will also get individualized skill development in areas of basic rules, proper grips and posture, ball and stick control, passing, shooting, and gameplay.
Monday, August 14th – Thursday, August 17th
|Day 1||Introduction to the sport, focus is on fundamentals; footwork, dribbling, hitting, and small sided play.|
|Day 2||Reinforce basic skill taught in day 1, teach passing, passing on the move, short corners, shooting and small sided play.|
|Day 3||Small sided play to start, break down situations, talk about rules.|
|Day 4||Game play scrimmage.|
5th – 8th Grade
4:30pm – 6:00pm
9th – 12th Grade
Mon., Tue., Thu.: 6:00pm – 7:30pm
Wed.: 7:00pm – 8:30pm
Ages groups are based on the grade level the player will be entering in the Fall.
About The Instructor
Amanda Heyde is a former Somers High School Field Hockey All-American. Following high school, she played Division I field hockey at Hofstra, where she was named CAA Rookie of the Week twice. After a successful playing career, Amanda stayed involved with the sport by coaching in the U.S. Futures program, JV Field Hockey at Rye Neck High School for one year, and Varsity Assistant Field Hockey coach at Rye Neck High School for the past two years.
