About The Instructor
Matt Berni is a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). Matt’s passion for strength & conditioning started during his football career where he played at Iona Prep High School and was a team captain for the Gaels. He also earned the CHSFL All-League First Team Defense Award, and was elected to play in the CHSFL All-Star Senior Bowl Game.
Matt continued his football career at Springfield College, as a three-year starter at Outside Linebacker/Strong Safety for the Pride. During this time, Matt also founded the Olympic Weightlifting Club and coordinated the Crush Cancer Classic, a fundraising weightlifting competition that proudly raised a total of $5,000 in donations to the Northern Westchester Hospital Breast Institute.
During his senior year at Springfield, Matt completed an internship in Strength and Conditioning at the College of the Holy Cross, working with all of their D-I Patriot League athletics programs. At the completion of this internship, Matt went through the rigorous certification process, having passed a written exam, created a 3-week Strength and Conditioning program for a D-I athlete, and defended it in front of a panel of Master Strength and Conditioning Coaches at the National Convention.
Matt moved on to receive his master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Merrimack College. During his time at Merrimack, Matt designed and implemented year-long Strength and Conditioning programs for the D-II National Runner-Up Men’s Lacrosse team, as well as the Women’s Tennis Program. Matt’s love for sports and fitness, combined with his desire to help athletes optimize performance, make him uniquely qualified to help anyone achieve their personal goals.
